The Auditors Recommended:

“Refocus the planning process to attain improved internal system connectivity in order to realize the strategic direction for the school district.” (p. 351)

What This Means To The Community:

The audit revealed that a shift in strategic direction of WCPSS had occurred when the Superintendent established four strategic directives for the school system in July of 2006. The four directives are:

Focus on Learning and Teaching
Retain, recruit and train high quality employees.
Develop and implement systems and procedures to support schools and ensure accountability.
Expand fiscal accountability.

The planning process must be strengthened to ensure that these strategic directives drive decision-making at every level of WCPSS from the classroom to the board room.
