Awards and Accreditations
The Wake County Public School System takes a lot of pride in the construction of its schools. Countless hours are spent designing, drafting, and planning any school project that is undertaken. Every now and then our hard work and efforts are recognized by other groups and associations. Below is a list of some of the many awards our schools have received.

"Enloe High School is a 2,300 - student school serving grades 9 to 12. Although it has received nation recognition for its magnet programs, the goal for this project was to provide a facility that would assist the administration and staff in their efforts to 'raise the bar'.
The plan address the need for additional classroom areas, while recognizing the constraint of an existing campus split by a natural ravine. The agreed-upon solution uses the west campus for instructional areas and the east campus for athletic programs.
The architect constructed a three-story classroom building on the west campus. This addition included an exterior courtyard, lab space, classrooms and a monumental stair.
Classroom areas were integrated into academic clusters, allowing multiple disciplines to be close to one another. This clustering helped the administration achieve its goal of new heights in academia.
Sustainability also is an essential aspect of the project, and the focus was on daylighting and energy efficiency. Sunshades are used on many of the buildings windows."

"Barwell Road Elementary School shares its site and building with the adjacent Barwell Road Community Center. Pairing the two facilities provides long-needed amenities to the southeastern portion of the city and enables the school and center to reduce duplicate systems through shared mechanical infrastructure. The shared site also made for an efficient use of land space, with less disturbed forest area, and allows student access to gymnasium facilities during school hours.
The Elementary school was designed in accordance with the Triangle Region's High Performance Guidelines for sustainability. Light shelves bring daylight deep into classroom spaces, thus reducing the amount of artificial light needed. Also, by stacking the fourth/fifth-grade wings and the second/third-grade wings, the building footprint was reduced by 25 percent from a single story design.
The 40,000-square-foot, two story community center is integrated into the existing topography so that visitors enter the facility on the upper floor, looking down upon the two gymnasiums. The center also features north-south daylighting through translucent clerestory glazing panels."
