How do I get tenure in WCPSS?

In order to qualify for tenure, you must:
• be 100% employed as a teacher for 4 consecutive years in the same North Carolina school system, and
• maintain a clear and valid Highly Qualified North Carolina Teaching license (not provisional or lateral), and
• be recommended for tenure by your principal upon 4 successful years of teaching.
If you have previously received tenure in any North Carolina school system, you may be eligible to be recommended for tenure again after one year of successful teaching at 100% employment with a clear and valid Highly Qualified North Carolina teaching license (not provisional or lateral).
