Description
Longview School serves students in grades 6 through 12 who have been identified as in need of Special Education services and whose academic and behavioral needs require intensive and intrusive intervention. Students are placed as the result of an IEP team decision. Intake comes through Student Support Services, where each student is assessed in the areas of academics, social/behavioral and vocational interest.
Students at Longview experience a wide range of areas of special education eligibility criteria and academic abilities. Most are considered to be “at risk”. As a result, the staff at Longview work collaboratively with various human resource agencies, such as Social Services, Juvenile Court Counselors and Mental Health workers.
After referral and assessment, students are placed at Longview as the result of an IEP team decision. Intake occurs through Student Support Services where each student is assessed academically before he/she is scheduled into an appropriate instructional program. Longview offers quality instruction for those students following the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Academic expectations are high at Longview, as evidenced by our continuously improving test scores.
Longview School is a continuous improvement school, actively recruiting qualified, dedicated and creative teachers and teaching assistants.
