    Academic Highlights

Broughton High School offers not only a rigorous academic environment, but also a varied one. Students have a choice of 17 Advanced Placement courses, and sophomores can elect to enroll in our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Our innovative Career and Technical Education program offers courses such as automotive technology and apparel design and certifies early childhood education students for careers in the field. Broughton students also have access to Air Force ROTC, award-winning band and choral programs, and electives such as Creative Writing, Forensics, and Computer Art. Broughton also offers three formal publication classes, where students produce The Hi-Times, the school newspaper; The Latipac, the school yearbook; and WCAP, our televised school news program. Broughton honors student academic achievement through five honor societies, including Latin and German, in addition to our CAPS on a Roll program, our honor roll celebrations, and our spring Awards Assembly.

    Extra-Curricular Highlights

With over 50 student clubs and organizations and 16 athletic teams, student life at Broughton is vibrant. After school, you may find the Broughton orchestra rehearsing, the debate team preparing for a match, or the cheerleaders running laps around soccer practice. From Student Action for the Environment to the Model United Nations Team and the Chemistry Club, Broughton offers a place for every student to feel an active part of the larger school community. Through their athletic and artistic efforts, Broughton students bring recognition to the school community. In the 2011-2012 school year alone, Broughton has earned a State Championship in Men’s Cross Country, placed second in Women’s Tennis, and placed third in Women’s Cross Country. In January, 2012, Broughton’s band will travel to Pasadena, California to march in the Tournament of Roses Parade for the second time in the past four years, and in December, 2012, Broughton choral students will travel to London, England, having received an invitation from the Lord Mayor of Westminster to participate in the London International Choral Festival.
